Summary: This is how I made the ink pour piece and the thoughts that went into it.

Everything But

Reflection
Meaning: Luxury and excess. Maximalism.
I could so I did.
I bought new metallic Liquitex Acrylic Inks (in gold and silver) and I wanted to use them. I also threw a ton of my inks at this because I had free will. This is many layers of persistence against me telling myself to stop while I was ahead. But I never listen to myself.

Planning Notes
- 06/07/26 Morning - I have no idea what I’ll do with this but all I’m going to do is tape down a piece of Meedan Watercolor Paper to my silicone mat and tape the edges. I have my inks out and my water out and I’m ready if the mood strikes me.
Progress Notes
- 06/07/26 Afternoon - I just started throwing down all sorts of colors. Every color I have. Started with the CMYK basics but branched out.
- I used both Bombay India Inks and Liquitex Acrylic Inks but have really more focused on the acrylic inks since I don’t know what I’m doing and I am less picky about how I use those. And I used pretty much every color.
- I just couldn’t keep the paper on the mat. The paper warped so bad. Way worse than I expected for watercolor paper. I’ve been really disappointed with the Meedan Watercolor Paper in practice. I’ve given it a lot of chances but the 200gsm Canson Graduate Mixed Media Paper has given me better results than the 300gsm Meedan Watercolor Paper.
- Anyway, I removed the paper from the mat. I freed it as it didn’t want to stay taped down. That means I will lose the edges, but that’s ok. This paper wants what it wants.
- Let’s get wild.
Completion Notes
- 06/07/26 Evening - I really like the end result. It’s a lot less galaxy/spacey than I wanted it to be but it’s still really interesting to look it. It’s definitely about excess but it’s a really nice piece…especially live where you can see it shimmer.
Supplies
| Material | What I Used | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Paper | Meedan Watercolor Paper | Didn’t like how it worked with this method. It warped worse than the Canson Graduate Mixed Media Paper. |
| Inks | Bombay India Inks and Liquitex Acrylic Inks | Warped the paper badly. |
