Methods
- Drew 8 rectangle grid.

- Painted 7 different media in 7 of the squares (white gesso, black gesso, clear gesso, tempura paint sticks, alcohol markers, India ink, and acrylic ink. Allowed to fully dry.
- Blank one is the control.
- Three different colors:
- Classic Red
- Metallic Red

- Pastel Pink
- Drew a line for each and took finger smudge test at end. Then fifth mark is me blending pastel pink into classic red.

Base Layer: Raw paper. | Tempura dries really fast on raw paper. Hard to blend, hard to smudge. |

Base Layer: Liquitex White Gesso. | Feels nice and blends fine, though not as well as I’d expect given the other gessos. |

Base Layer: Liquitex Black Gesso. | Blended fine and looked fine. Similar to the Acrylic ink and the India ink, the India ink sucks all the color out. |

Base Layer: TCW Clear Gesso. | Blended the best out of all the gessos. |

Base Layer: Grabie Acrylic Markers, ARTISTRO Acrylic Paint Markers | Most resistant medium base, acrylic markers made the tempura streaky. |

Base Layer: Alcohol markers. | Alochol markers make a nice texture for the background. |

Test Summary
Base Positives
- Definitely more opaque and very creamy.
- Surprisingly does really well on gessos…blends really well.
- The paint sticks look good on most media.
Base Negatives
- Not waterproof, even when dry. Will mix with anything wet.
- Acrylic inks definitely reject the paint sticks the most.
Overall Strengths & Weaknesses
Rating: ★★★☆☆
What works well
- Opaque and cream, looks great.
- Blending is good when you get the hang of it.
What doesn't
- It’s watersoluable, even after it’s dry. Anything wet will blend into the paint.
Tips
- If you are struggling to blend, layer more tempura on top and keep going back on forth with the colors until tempura stays went enough to blend..
