There is a 7 year gap that jumps from 2007 to 2014.

One reason for this is because I didn't find any art that were my favorites in that time, even though I was still creating during that time.
The other reason is because of life stuff. Between 2008 and 2011 I was focused far more on photography and I didn't include photographs in this list, and 2011-2013 I was going through a lot of life changes...dropping out of school, getting married the first time, starting my first real job, and then becoming extremely depressed. I started back up in 2013 with my most of my favorite pieces starting in 2014.

Note 1: I want to distinguish between “doodles” and “confetti doodles”. When I say “doodles” I generally mean simplistic drawings of random objects or random shapes and lines. But “confetti doodles” are specific. This term is applied to a specific visual process where I draw a ton of various shapes of roughly the same size that overlap each other. The shapes are generally no bigger than a quarter of an inch. Shapes include basic geometric shapes, leaves, curves, lines, pointy polygons, blobby shapes…all sorts. Each shape has the main outline (like the lines in a square) and I always bold that part of the shape...so I thicken the lines there. However, inside the shape I will draw patterns and circles and other little shapes, and those are NOT bolded. The entire process creates a chaotic pattern that reminds me of like a really messy toy box or trinket drawer. This pattern is something that can fill the shape of other, larger drawings (like a dress made out of doodle confetti).

While I have a few earlier iterations of the “confetti doodles” (early versions as I figured out the process weren’t as neat and patterned and often included regular doodles of objects), The “Nothing…” artwork is the first piece to use my current and longest lasting version.

Note 2: There’s a two year jump between 2017 and 2019. I did a little bit of traditional art during this time but I was primarily working heavily in a bullet journal and doing things like leather crafts and bookmaking.

Doodle Spread 2	Sept 5, 2016	9x12, black fine liner only. I draw 9 wavy lines from the top left down the the bottom right. In between these lines I did alternating confetti doodles and straight perpendicular lines, creating an alternating pattern of doodles and lines. This is the second in a 3-piece series. The first was just confetti doodles, the third included curved lines in a chaotic pattern instead of ordered the Spread 2.	Order in chaos, chaos in order. Visually stimulating.
5150	Oct 3, 2016	9x9, black fine liner only. The numbers “5150” are outlined in the lower left corner, tilted so that the 0 is closer to the bottom and the 5 is closer to the left side. The numbers have several straps on them, like a straight jacket. The 5150 is empty besides the straps. Confetti doodles completely fill the rest of the space outside the numbers and include various random doodles of medical or pychiastric equiptment, meds, and various words like “anxiety” and “pain.”	Mental health, fear, anxiety, OCD, perception.
Rainbow Yin Yang	Nov 4, 2016	9x9, black fine liner and watercolors (rainbow colors). A large yin-yang with the top side being watercolor in rainbow order with a small confetti doodle circle and the bottom side is confetti doodles with a rainbow watercolors circle. Circle Doodles	Feb 6, 2017	9x9, black fine liner only. A bunch of circles stacked on each other (making half circles) with doodles (confetti and random lines/shapes) inside.	Experimentation, fun, lopsided.
Doodle Drip	Aug 20, 2017	9x9, black fine liner and watercolors (rainbow colors). I traced my hand and then made my palm watercolor (rainbow colors) and then the fingers and part of the tum are in confetti doodles. I specifically made the image to look like the hand was dipped in confetti doodles and the doodles look thick and chunk and dripping onto the palm.	Doodles have taken over my art and I love it. Sometimes looking at this piece makes me feel itchy.
Confused	Feb 13, 2019	8x8, black fine liner pen only. A simple, bipedal rabbit with the top of it’s head (including ears) hanging off the back like it’s head is open like a can and a bunch of confetti doodles mixed with random object doodles are pouring out of it. The rabbit has a speech bubble that says “I am often confused.”	Confusion, ADHD, intrusive thoughts, OCD, mental health, neurodivergence, communication.
Koi The 1st	Sept 7, 2019	A4 size, digital (ProCreate). It’s a sky blue background with a large white and orange koi taking up most of the space. Its head is facing the bottom left, the tail is facing the top left (it’s curved). It’s fins are spreads and there’s a shadow under it. The koi definitely has an illustrative feel to it but also looks relatively 3d.	Fun, peace, pretty, curiosity.
Apple Blossoms	Nov 13, 2019	A4 size, digital (ProCreate). Light green background with a digital painting of a branch covered in flowers and leaves. Realistic but also very illustrative.	Pretty, soft, light, nostalgic.
That’s Impossible	Dec 24, 2019	A4, digital (ProCreate). A space scene with the bottom half being consecutive mountain ranges in various shaded levels (in a gray-purple) and the upper half is three plants (largest is red and yellow, second is lime green, third is a small purple planet with rings). Daniel Raddishcliff	Jun 10, 2022	1:1, digital (ProCreate), used a pencil brush. I saw and took a picture of the back of a truck because there was a thing on the back that looked like it had a quirky face, almost like someone signing in frustration. I took a picture and then drew the face in ProCreate, that turned into a digital sketch of essentially a radish with the same face. At the end, I felt like it looked like Daniel Radcliffe. Tree Bark	Jun 16, 2022	A5, black fine liner only. Bottom half is 3 rectangles of practicing wood bark texture, then the top is a large branch with lots of branches on it covered in moss to practice the texture.	Bold, interesting texture, visually stimulating, practice.
Bouquet	Oct 6, 2022	4x6, black fine liner only. A bunch of flower doodles clustered together towards the top of the page with a bunch of lines from the bottom meeting together and tied to look like the flowers are in a bouquet. Also kind of looks like the flowers are balloons attached together. This was a piece I made for InkTober (one of the few as I never keep up).	Pretty, fun, happy, cute.
Trip	Oct 8, 2022	4x6, black fine liner only. Another Inktober prompt. I drew trippy looking mushrooms clustered together on what looks like a ball of string. There are four mushrooms, three that look regular trippy, one that is a nose, and then some clouds and Saturn in the background.	Trippy, fun, interesting, cool.
Doodle Swirl	Jan 16, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. A large swirl starting at the top thin and curling clockwise to the center. It’s an outline of a swirl filled with confetti doodles.	Dynamic, spiraling, dizzy, confusion.
Witch Shelf	Jan 2, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. Everything looks like a cartoon, relatively simplified object doodles. It’s three shelves, one big bookshelf, one small bookshelf, and a curio cabinet, all filled with books, creepy dolls, vases, rocks, a hand statue, moss, incense, plants, and a bunch of random flowers dotted through the shelves. Incense Doodles	Jan 6, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. It’s a small (about 1.5in long) doodle style incense holder with an incense stick in it burning. The smoke coming off it goes from bottom to top and is confetti doodles, starting all compressed and barely distinguishable at the bottom, expanding to normal confetti doodles at the middle, then separating at the top.	Peace, meditation, calm, happy, spiritual.
Doodle Spider	Feb 2, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. It’s an outline of a generic looking spider (actually kinda reminds me of a standard female orb weaver), and the spider is completely made of confetti doodles. It looks like a legit spider, with all the segments and parts, but made of confetti doodles. Like the legs are a single line of confetti doodles. There’s also a shadow underneath to make it look more real. I even tried to chose specific doodles that would make the spider even more 3d-ish and real. This marks the first time I ever used my doodles to form an actual image, instead of being used to fill in a space.	Cool, radical, experimentation, spooky, nature, freaky, surreal, interesting.
I See Doodles	Feb 6, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. It’s a human left eye wit lots of eye lashes, and the iris is made of doodles.	Surreal, focus, connection, attention, motivation.
Moon Castle	Feb 18, 2023	9x9, black fineliner and black colored pencil for shading. It’s a large, crescent moon (waning crescent), with some clouds around it. The moon has a female face and moss on the top part of the crescent. The bottom part of the crescent has a large castle coming out of it. The face is pleasantly looking at the castle. It’s all somewhat cartoonish, though the moon looks quiet real.	Surreal, serene, mystical, magical, fantasy, cool, spiritual.

The colored pencil was used to shade the letters over the doodles. The letters themselves are just white. I made this because I was getting frustrated with trying to post on social media regularly and trying to figure out what followers like instead of just drawing what I wanted. Doodles Are Lit	Apr 10, 2023	9x9, black fine liner only. It’s an old looking lamppost with a large round light. The background is white, the lamppost is black EXCEPT for the part highlighted by the light. Follow The Dopamine	Oct 21, 2023	8.3x8.3, black fine liner and alcohol markers (all colors). A page of random object doodles and speech bubbles with random thoughts of encouragement and discouragement. The doodles and bubbles all overlap each other and the entire page looks like a cluttered mess. I had a gap in art between Doodles are Lit and Follow the Dopamine where I didn’t do anything. I felt burnt out. But I wanted to keep doing art so I made this page to help break me out of art block. I stopped posting on social media too. it all worked, and I haven’t stopped doing art since. Hell Mushroom	Nov 3, 2023	8.3x8.3, black fine liner and alcohol markers. A large toadstool mushroom behind a small mossy rock and in front of two smaller mushrooms. Some plants are coming from behind the mushrooms and there’s a dirt ground. The mushrooms looks very hot as I included a lot of yellow in the centers, causing them to look like they’re glowing, and my husband specifically said “looks like these mushrooms came straight from hell.” (We are not religious, the comment is purely about aesthetics). Window Box Flowers	May 14, 2024	8.3x8.3, black fine liner and green, purple, brown, and pink alcohol markers. Smile	Sept 15, 2024	8.5x8.5, black fine liner and colored pencils (pale pinks and light yellows for gums and teeth). Image is of a cringing emoji-looking circle face with a twitching eye. The face is completely made of doodles besides the eyes (which are all black) and the teeth in the cringe/smile, which were colored with colored pencil and are EXTREMELY realistic. There are random hidden words like “panic” and “weird” and “go away” hidden in the confetti.	Contrast, masking, mental health, ADHD, stress, frustration, overwhelm.
Alien Tech	Nov 20, 2024	8.5x8.5, black fine liner only. I used a version of my confetti doodles where I primarily use rectangles as the only or majority shape my doodle confetti takes. The insides are still random but this allows for directional “highways” going in the direction of the rectangles. Sometimes I also curve the rectangle highways to make webbing. Blocks of these highways, webs, and also rectangles that go in circles or spirals, make up a whole piece that looks like the side of a spaceship wall. Batch 6

Note: After completing Smile and Alien Tech, I wanted to go back to doing more doodles. But they can take a really long time on bigger pieces, so I decided to use a small, 4x6, spiral bound sketchbook. However, I hate spiral bound sketchbooks, so I ended up dismantling it, and using it for any of the pieces below that are 4x6. That means most 4x6 page also has holes on the side where the spiral was. The last piece that has holes is “Cobblestone”, with everything after just being paper I cut from larger pieces.

I was very intentional and made the doodles inside the droplets a little bigger to give that magnification effect.	I’m a sweaty person, playful, interesting, technical.
Woven	Apr 8, 2025	4x6, black fine liner and black colored pencil. Imagine the side of a picnic basket, but made of directional confetti doodles all going in the alternating, woven directions. Watching	Apr 23, 2025	Two, portrait 4x6 pages side by side and drawn on as if one page, black fine liners and brown and black colored pencils. The left page has a network/webbing of confetti doodles (like from Alien Tech) and it connects to the right page which has an eyeball at the very center, the iris is colored with brown colored pencils, the veins of the eyeball are tiny confetti doodles that branch out and look lik are holding the eye in a tight cluster of doodle webbing. The eye is looking directly at the viewer.	Context: That one scene from the movie A Clockwork Orange where the actor playing Alex was put in a device that kept his eye lids open to force propaganda…it’s that vibe. Also focus, attention, ADHD, wired, insomnia, eerie, spooky, unsettling.
ADHD	May, 22, 2025	Two, portrait 4x6 pages side by side and drawn on as if one page, black fine liners, colored pencils, acrylic markers, alcohol markers, gel pens, colored fine liners. It’s dozens of squares that overlap each other all over the pages. The left side has a quare at the very center and then all other square going behind it like the top of a pyramid, the left page has squares randomly and every square is covered by another square. The square are filled with random patterns, colors, confetti doodles, directional doodles, object doodles, neons, all over. Some are black and white some are color.	Disorder, chaos, ADHD, unfocused, disorienting, visually stimulating, dazed.
Firebird	May 27, 2025	4x6, black fine liner, colored fine liner, alcohol and acrylic markers in reds, oranges, and yellows. I used a technique where I layer fine liner lines to look like fabric or muscle fibers and I spiraled them into the center. The entire thing looked like an abstract bird so I colored it white, yellow, orange, and then red at the tips to make it look like fire and to represent a phoenix. This was actually an accident because it was supposed to be a complete spiral except I accidentally created a beak and then stopped there because the bird looked cool. World Map	Jun 20, 2025	1:2 aspect ratio, digital (ProCreate), earthy greens, browns, yellows, and water blues. I created a map for a story. It’s extremely detailed and looks like an actual world map. It’s one giant landmass with a ton of different biomes.	Skills, patience, fun, interesting, whimsical.
Flower Field	Aug 14, 2025	4.5x4.5, watercolors in eary greens, deep red/magentas, and stormy blues to create a rose flower field in watercolor. I really liked this piece because I’m terrible at watercolor pieces that look like actual things instead of just color and this looked like a quick sketch from a skilled watercolorist (even though it took me forever).	Patience, proof, depth, moody, serenity, calm.
Cobblestone	Aug 19, 2025	4x6, fine liner and alcohol markers, white gel pen. My husband made a bunch of marks with the broad tip of random alcohol marker colors that ended up looking like intricate cobblestones in a radial pattern. I outlined them with fine liner and then gave them shadows and highlights ot make it look like a cartoon or video game cobblestone.	Intricate, visually stunning, pretty, fun, colorful, together.
Trumpet Flower	Nov 25, 2025	4x6, tan toned mixed media paper, acrylic markers in sea greens, blues, and purples. I did that stratified layering technique in free form but with acrylic markers instead of fine liners. I accidentally created leaves and petals that looked like a purple and blue lilly with a few green leaves sticking off a green stem. Totally accidental but it sparked two things: A realism resurgence and a love for acrylic markers.	Fun, whimsy, cute, pretty, pivitol
Monarch	Dec 13, 2025.	4x6, yellow, orange, and black acrylic markers on tan toned paper. It’s a monarch with it’s wings spread. Looks really realistic. Told me I was a better artist than I realized.	Pivotal, pretty, fun, whimsical, pleasant.

It’s called “Contrast” because in order to see it after scanning, I had to up the contrast a lot.	Fun, whimsy, practice.
Glitterfish	Dec 14, 2025	4x6, blue toned mixed media paper, black fine liner outline and acrylic markers to color it in (blues, yellows, reds, and some greens.) It’s a betta curved to look like it’s turning down and it’s fins are flowing and spreading in the turn. It’s made out of stratified layering so it looks like it has a lot of glittering scales. Dark Bubbles	Dec 15, 2025	4x6, black mixed media paper, acrylic markers in pastel colors. IT’s a bunch of shiny colorful bubbles. This is the version over black paper, I have a version over tan paper that I call “Light Bubbles.”	Fun, whimsy, practice and experimentation, freedom.

I’m all over the place in how I work and what sizes I use, it just depends on what I’m doing. Anything involving fine liner (like my doodles or other pen work) are small, meticulous, and exact and take a lot of time. I tend to do these in smaller sizes (4x6 - A5) but I’ve recently been enjoying working on larger sizes (Letter/A4 - 11x14 or even A3). While I tend to use larger sizes for the color mediums and smaller sizes for precise work, the larger sizes are my main go-to at the moment, even for precise work.

Acrylic markers and tempura paint sticks are relatively recent additions for me and both give me the ability to not focus on perfection and just do large gestural strokes that capture movement (especial the tempura sticks). I do love creating detail. One of my favorite things to see from other people is them discovering different parts of my art. I think that’s why I’ve done confetti doodles for so long and why they are a foundation to all my art.

Techniques

Confetti Doodles

Imagine a toy box or trinket box filled with blocks, Legos, random game pieces, odds and ends, various trinkets, coins, random toys, and throw in leaves, sticks, flowers, shells, and other organic shapes, that all overlap into an intricate, chaotic texture, and you get confetti doodles. I specifically draw a shape, then “bold” it by thickening the line by about double. Then i doodle patterns in the shape with single line strokes (no “bolding”).

Stratified Layering

Offshoot of confetti doodles that started with fine liner, I drawn wavy lines that all bend and cross each other smoothly so it likes like muscle fibers or layered fabric. I have done this in all color mediums.

Ink Backgrounds

I use my acrylic and India inks on watercolor paper to create colorful and interesting backgrounds (like stripes, swirls, lines, diagonal, circular, all types of gradients, I especially seem to like blue backgrounds since I just ran out of all my blues far faster than any other color and had to replace them). The paper is a little rough so I use larger fine liner sizes (min. 05/0.5), and alcohol marker doesn’t work as it reactives the ink, but all other color mediums work well on it.

Abstract vs Realism

I do both frequently and like to combine them as much as possible (part of my love of contrasts), but I do think of myself as an abstract artist at heart. I especially love playing with texture and can experiment a lot in abstract. I tend to sketch/practice realism and do abstract completed works.

Stuck Point:

I have done tons of completed pieces using my doodles, but they take so long that sometimes I get stuck on not creating anything. I’ve moved away from confetti doodles just a little (I still have some pieces open and intend to have at least one always open), but there’s other abstract or realistic work I want to create because I really enjoy being able to create interesting scenes. But I can’t seem to think up my own original ideas and I really want to. I think I’ve recently had a breakthrough when I discovered tempura art sticks, which force me to abandon perfectionism and embrace movement and gesture. They’ve really helped me get to a point where I can create some ideas or scenes, but I heavily rely on references or other people’s work. I can’t figure out how to think up ideas that put everything together to create something that not only represents me, but communicates the complexity of my emotions.
