Purpose
- To practice my artistic skills in all areas (realism and abstract).
- To make ugly art and lots of mistakes.
Why this sketchbook?
I’m using the Ohuhu Mixed Media Sketchbook as my main, everyday sketchbook. It is not double-sided paper, meaning that alcohol markers will bleed through. But the mixed-media paper is thicker than the double-sided, and I’ve confirmed that the paper holds moisture WAY better. I wanted the bigger size because small sizes aren’t doing it for me anymore.
Why is it called “Thicc Boi”?
Short Answer: Because I’m a cringe millennial.
Long Answer: I knew this 8.3x8.3 sketchbook would be quite a bit larger than 6.3x6.3 Ohuhu Doubled-Sided sketchbook, but I wasn’t prepared for just how much larger (or more specifically, how much thicker) this sketchbook would be.
Look at that thicc boi! It’s thickness makes sense, the GSM is higher (200 vs 150) and there are more pages (120 vs 178), but I’ll be honest…it’s a little intimidating.
Sketchbook Goals
- Finish art pieces, even if I hate them. There’s a lot of value in being able to complete pieces, even if the art itself sucks. Practicing the movements will help strengthen the lines.
- Practice daily. Or as close to it as possible.
- Finish. I’ve completed two already, I can keep going!
Sketchbook Rules
- Don’t tear out pages. I will default to my mantra: let be what will be.
- Abandoning pieces/pages is not a failure. Finishing all pieces I start is the goal, but sometimes that won’t or can’t happen and I don’t want to stress about about finishing pages, I just want to increase my completion skills.
