Purpose
To freely practice without expectations.
Sketchbook Goals
- Improve my art skills.
- Have fun and enjoy the process.
- Finish within 3 months.
Sketchbook Rules
- Remember: NO EXPECTATIONS!
- Don’t lament on mistakes, learn from them. Mistakes ≠ Failure!
- Embrace curiosity.
Opening Reflection
Perfectionism steels my joy of art. It stops me from starting AND finishing. It robs me of inspiration. I want to practice, not just technical skills, but also my ability to let go and accept the automatic chaos my mind seems to thrive in.
Closing Reflection
(Completed once sketchbook is done.)
Creative Workbook

| Colored Pencils | 0.0 ★★★☆☆ | Untested |
| Acrylic Markers | 4.0 ★★★★☆ | The ARTISTRO Acrylic Paint Markers don’t work well on this paper but the Sharpie Creative Markers in bullet tips do. The Sharpie markers work really well. Makes me think that the juicier brands will work (primarily direct ink). Need to test other markers. Will come back. |

Process Notes
Progress Notes
- 08/21/26 - I’m put off by the ARTISTRO Acrylic Paint Markers working so poorly in this sketchbook. They were scratchy and seemed to dry up so fast. This does make sense though, as the paper is crazy textured, thick, and almost woody. I like the paper so far but this is not cool.
- 08/22/26 - Why do the Sharpie Creative Markers I have in bullet tips work so well??? I don’t have the same problem as the Artistro. I’ve been worried about using my nice NICETY Acrylic Paint Markers but the Sharpies are so juicy, it makes me think direct ink markers (like NICETY) will work better? We’ll see.
