Ink Blooms
Technique Name

The What
Some sort of water-reactive medium being dropped into a water base to create a blooming effect. Can be done with watercolors, Bombay India Inks, and Liquitex Acrylic Inks.
The Why
The effect is really cool when you have granulating watercolors or these various inks. The texture is fun to play with and the fractaling pattern works well with the abstract nature of my art.
The How
- Saturate paper with clean wash.
- Depending on paper, may need to wait to soak in.
- Using a dropper, from a height of about a 6-12 in', drop drops onto the page and watch them bloom.
- Do as often as necessary, rewet as necessary.
